Even though MY TRIP (and, yes, that’s the way Miss Carol and me have started referring to it) is still three months away I started making lists back in October.
Because Miss Carol and me are a “fer piece” away from wealthy, I had to figure out what all I’d be taking on MY TRIP so that I could see what we already had and what I needed to buy because I knew I’d need to space out purchases if I wanted to stay within my budget.
And it’s pretty much worked out.
Yesterday I ordered the two windows for my little DIY camper, so now, with March and April to go yet, I just need to buy a twin size mattress and the lumber to build my camper. And, you know, actually build the camper. But I’m close and getting closer.
And because it’s getting closer, I’ve started another list- a list of things that I want to do and see on MY TRIP. My original plan was to start in Ocean City MD and drive Route 50 coast to coast and then drive down the coastal highway in California to Santa Monica and pick up Route 66 to Chicago and then home.
I’m still doing Route 50 (in fact, Miss Carol and LoLa are going to follow me to Assateague MD and camp with me that first night) but as I look at maps and routes I find myself being drawn more and more to the southwest and I10E than Route 66 so I’ve started listing drives and sites that interest me in order to find which way to go.
Or, rather, to come back?
